Dominic de Las Casas
Domingo de Las Casas, born in Sevilla, accompanied Gonzálo Jiménez de Quesda (ca.1500-1579) the discoverer of the Magdalena-river.
He celebrated the first Holy Mass after the conquest of Muequetá, in a chapel in Santa Fé before a picture of Christ of the Conquest in 1538. The lead chalice is preserved in the cathedral of Bogotá.
Domingo de Las Casas returned to Spain in 1539 and died 1579.
